Early in the morning, before the parents came, the dancers and I went to Corporation Primary School for a rehearsal before the ceremony began. Today was an important day as it was the 60th Anniversary Celebration of Corporation Primary School. My friends and I rehearsed first, followed by the lion dance troupe. The school hall was decorated with colourful streamers and balloons.
It was time for the 60th Anniversary Celebration! We were very excited as well as nervous, as we would be going up the stage to perform a Chinese dance. I wished Justina and Jessica good luck. The parents found themselves a seat and in minutes, they were all ready for the 60th Anniversary Celebration. First, they went to the buffet table and there were food such as, tuna sandwiches, eggs tarts and more mouth-watering food. The hall was lively.
Soon, the MC went up on stage to have a talk about the 60th Anniversary Celebration and about all the programmes coming up. Then, it was Justina, Jessica and my turns to go on stage to perform. The MC said, “Good Morning ladies and gentlemen, now the Chinese dance members, Justina, Alicia and Jessica are going to perform a dance for us! Please enjoy yourselves.” We went on stage to perform. Suddenly, when we were dancing, Jessica lost her balance and fell. She sprained her ankle and she had a blue-black. The audience was surprised and Jessica continued to dance even though her ankle was hurt.
From the corner of my eyes, I saw Kaiser and Naing were fighting behind the lion dance troupe. When Mr Choy saw what had happened, he quickly went over to stop Kaiser from hitting Naing. Mr Choy turfed off the duo. He asked them what had happened and scolded them for fighting.
Now, was the lion dance troupe to perform on stage. After the performance, the audience cheered happily from their seats. Even though during the performance there were some problems, it was still a successful celebration and everyone went to the reception to enjoy themselves. The three of us cheered loudly for our success. Mr Choy congratulated us and praised us. Today was my happiest day ever as well as for Justina and Jessica. I would not forget this very special day in my whole life.
