At The Airport
“Ahhh…, I can’t believe it. They are coming to Singapore. I am so excited!” My friend, Betty was talking excitedly to me.
“I know, I know, I can’t believe it too. Now, can you please lower your voice? Everyone is looking at us.” I tried to calm Betty down. We were on the MRT, going to Changi Airport to meet our favourite idols – The N Brothers Band.
When we arrived at the airport, we saw some reporters and cameramen waiting at the arrival hall. It was crowded with many fans of the celebrities. The departure hall was teeming with some travellers and their loved ones. There were many people at the viewing gallery, taking pictures or having their meals at the café nearby.
“Quick Sharon, we need to find a good place, otherwise we can’t have their signatures and we also can’t take pictures of them!” said Betty, while she was elbowing her way through the crowd
As I was following Betty, I spotted a few children playing catching at the entrance. I also saw a man near them pushing a trolley that was filled with a heap of luggage.
Suddenly, there was a loud crash. Two of the children who were playing catching were lying on the floor. What had happened? A piece of luggage had toppled off and hurt one of them. The man, who could not see the other little boy, had pushed the trolley an inch further and it knocked onto the boy.
He screamed in pain as there was a cut on his right arm and it was bleeding. When the man realised what had happened, the remaining pieces of luggage on the trolley came crashing to the ground. The other boy only had blue and black bruises.
A security guard who saw the incident quickly alerted a pharmacist working in a pharmacy nearby to attend to the injured boys. The pharmacist gave first aid to the boys whose anxious mother, standing a couple of feet away, warned them to behave themselves. Just then, The N Brothers Band arrived.
“Wow, I…I…I got their signatures and I got the chance to take a photo with them. I am so happy!” screamed Betty excitedly.
“Me too. I could not believe it. I actually saw them in real person!” I was in high spirit and shrieked in delight.
Betty and I were overjoyed. That night we slept more soundly than the night before when we were too excited to sleep. The accident at the airport was long forgotten.
