“John! Tom! Go to sleep now! It is already 10 p.m.” mother said. My brother Tom and I were watching our favourite television programme. We could not argue and went to sleep. We did not sleep together as we had our own room.
“Good night!” my brother said to me.
I jumped onto my bed and slept like a pig as I was very tired. I was fast asleep…
“Ah! Ah…!” I heard somebody crying loudly in the middle of the night. “Who was the one crying at such a late hour?” I wondered.
Through the darkness, I traced the sound of the cry and realized that it was Tom who was crying. “What happened?” I asked. Tom was vomiting and groaning in pain. He complained, “I feel dizzy.” My heart was in my mouth. I decided to tell my parents. “Wait here.” I told my brother.
Both my mum and dad went into his room barely one minute later. My father touched his forehead. “Oh! No! His head is so hot! Quick, take his temperature.” My father instructed. We took his temperature and the thermometer read 39 degrees C. Without hesitation, my father carried my brother into the car and drove to the clinic.
Upon reaching there, we quickly called the doctor to check up on him. Fortunately, there were not many people in the clinic as it was late in the night.
The doctor said that my brother vomited and felt dizzy because he had food poisoning. “Oh… it must be the Japanese food which cause this.” My mother said. The doctor prescribed some medicine for my brother. After two days of care from my parents, my brother finally recovered from it.
From that day onwards, he dared not eat much Japanese food as he was afraid that he would have food poisoning again.
